THE Chinese government is working on modalities for establishing a traditional Chinese medicine hospital in Bulawayo, claiming that its medicine has been shown to be effective in treating illnesses that cannot be treated by traditional hospitals.

The China-Zimbabwe Center for Traditional Medicine and Acupuncture, which offers traditional Chinese medicine services, was exhibiting at the recently concluded Zimbabwe International Fair just to popularize its medicines.
This comes a year after he started his activities in Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe-China Traditional Medicine and Acupuncture Center was established in the Parirenyatwa group of hospitals in Harare in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare last year in September.

Acupuncture refers to a technique in which doctors stimulate specific points on the body, usually by inserting fine needles through the skin.

The company’s executive dean, Dr Sun Shuang, said traditional Chinese medicine has proven to be popular and processes are underway to establish a base in Bulawayo.

She said they were working with the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare to set up the center in Bulawayo.

“We are trying here to market traditional Chinese medicines because we have a center that was built by the Zimbabwean and Chinese governments.

“We offer a full medical service related to traditional Chinese medicine. We are here to educate people about traditional Chinese medicine because in the near future we want to have more clinics run by local people. While we are operating in Harare, we would probably have established another center in Bulawayo next year so that people here can learn about traditional Chinese medicines, ”said Dr Sun.

“There are those diseases that cannot be detected by the use of modern Western drugs. So while the test result may be negative, we focus on the patient’s symptoms rather than the test results. We also check your pulse; your language and we would give you therapists to treat you. Thanks to traditional Chinese medicine, people could enjoy life more, ”she said.

Dr Sun said they are training local staff in the use of traditional Chinese medicine, which has been shown to be very effective.

She said traditional Chinese medicine has even been used in the treatment of illnesses related to Covid-19 and has been found to be very effective.

The government has also partnered with its Chinese counterpart to purchase Covid-19 vaccines [email protected]
