Meditation app Calm has launched a contest to find TikTok’s ‘sweetest voice’ – the winner will get $5,000 to tell a story
The app announced a contest to find “the sweetest voice on TikTok,” said Erik Braa, one of Calm’s current narrators, in a video published by the company on their TikTok account.
The contest winner will record a bedtime audio story, joining a roster of storytellers that includes celebrities like Matthew McConaughey and Kelly Rowland. The successful entrant will also receive $5,000.
Calm – which offers other features beyond bedtime stories, including relaxing music options and breathing exercises – saw huge demand for its products during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the most downloaded wellness app in the world in April 2020, according to a mobile app research firm Detection tower.
To enter the contest, entrants must stitch a TikTok video together with one posted by Calm, reading aloud any of their original content in a minute or less.
“A shopping list, your latest text, or a made-up story,” Braa said of the options users have for narrating their video. “As long as it’s original and so soothing.”
According to Sensor Tower, global demand for wellness apps such as Calm has increased during the pandemic. The app has had over 100 million downloads, according to its website.
