Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital signs MoU with ICCBS-KU
The International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) at the University of Karachi (UoK) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital (BTCMH), Capital Medical University, China.
The ICCBS spokesperson said on Wednesday that Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and general coordinator of COMSTECH, and Prof. Dr. Liu Qingquan, director of the hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Beijing signed the MoU on behalf of their institutions at the inaugural ceremony of the China-Pakistan Symposium on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Unani Traditional Medicine held recently at ICCBS – University from Karachi (June 9, 2021).
The ceremony was also attended by Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science and Technology, and Prof. Dr. Khalid M. Iraqi, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Karachi. The spokesperson said: “The general objectives of this MoU are to promote cooperation in the fields of traditional medicine, these activities should be carried out in accordance with the laws and regulations of the respective countries.”
It should be mentioned here that ICCBS was the only institution in Pakistan to be not only ISO certified, but also became “UNESCO Category 2 Center of Excellence Institute”, a- he declared.
It is also relevant to mention here that BTCMH is the only comprehensive and modern MTC Level III A Level Tertiary Level Municipal Hospital in Beijing. The hospital is responsible for the treatment, teaching, scientific research and prevention of diseases in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding, the two institutions will promote cooperation in the field of traditional medicine, on the basis of international laws and relevant national laws. Areas of mutual cooperation include the joint conduct of clinical trials of selected TCM products, the TCM physician training program, the joint organization of bilateral or multilateral conferences, symposia, seminars and other scientific meetings, co-supervision of masters and doctorates. students and etc.
